Registration is now open for the 2023 UK & Ireland Lakes Network Annual Conference in Glasgow hosted with the Seven Lochs Partnership
Tuesday 10th October 2023 – Site Visits and Conference Dinner
- 9.30 am Meet at Glasgow City Chambers, George Square, G2 1DU – Conference welcome & coach transfer for a day of site visits around the Seven Lochs Wetland Park
The Seven Lochs Partnership brings together a number of public, voluntary and private sector organisations to create and manage the Seven Lochs Wetland Park – a large scale heritage and nature park spanning the Glasgow City and North Lanarkshire council boundary. Management of the park aims to combine nature restoration, visitor engagement and climate resilience. We’ll visit two sites in the Seven Lochs Wetland Park to look at how the partnership is developing new recreation opportunities, and transforming land to deliver a more sustainable urban drainage network.
We’ll also visit Strathclyde Country Park in North Lanarkshire – one of the most popular family attractions in the central belt of Scotland, offering outdoor play, bicycle hire, and a watersports centre with cafe. The visit will focus on how the new park masterplan ensures the urgency, innovation and collaboration required for our lakes, lochs and wetlands will be achieved.
A packed lunch will be provided. Additional hot drinks and snacks will be available to purchase at the venues during the site visit .
The visits will include outdoor tours – so come prepared for wet weather and some walking. We return to Glasgow City Chambers by 5.00pm.
- 6.30 pm – Conference Dinner (optional) at the Metropolitan Restaurant
